Hydrology and Groundwater Services

The Consulting Office contributes, in a scientific and precise manner, by providing consultancy on how to preserve and utilize natural, surface, and groundwater resources through their optimal use and protection from pollution. This is especially important under exceptional conditions related to climate change and increasing shortages in water resources.

The office also contributes to defining strategies for the country’s water reserves by supporting state plans to optimize the use of surface and groundwater resources through modern methods and techniques. Another goal of the office is to help estimate the strategic reserves of groundwater in Iraq in order to establish a long-term national strategic plan.

The office employs advanced tools and techniques such as field sampling kits, portable measuring devices, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and hydrochemical modeling to analyze spatial distribution and detect trends.
